Efthymios is a partner in our Competition and EU Group, based in Brussels.
He specialises in all aspects of Competition and EU law including, in particular, State aid, merger control, issues arising out of restrictive practices and trading arrangements, public procurement and institutional and regulatory law. He has significant experience of representing clients in cases before the European Commission, the European Courts and national courts and regulators. As a member of the Athens Bar, Efthymios also has substantial experience in the Greek legal system and competition law, regularly representing clients before the national courts and authorities in Greece.
Efthymios also has significant industry experience across a number of sectors, including energy (oil, gas, electricity), electronic communications and media, transport, airports and ports, agriculture, construction/cement and lottery/betting.
Prior to joining us in 2014, Efthymios worked for the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission for three years and then at Ashurst LLP where he became partner in 2007.
Efthymios is a graduate of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and received his LL.M from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom. He was admitted to the Athens Bar in 1992 and to the Brussels Bar in 1995. He is fluent in Greek, English and French.
