Working as a senior associate in our Düsseldorf-based Intellectual Property Practice Group, I regularly provide solution-driven advice in the broad field of IP with a focus on patents, utility models, unfair competition and the intersection of IP and antitrust.

Our clients include domestic and international companies from various industries, most notably, automotive, electronics and medical devices.

My experience in contentious IP matters includes, in particular, complex patent litigation. I have gained extensive experience in litigating patent infringement actions and handling parallel patent revocation proceedings in close cooperation with patent attorneys. My special areas of expertise include pre-procedural evidence gathering (both applicant and defendant-sided), patent vindication proceedings and the effective handling "takedowns" in case of patent infringements on trade fairs.

In non-contentious matters my work focuses on realizing our clients' interests in agreements (e.g. on license, IP transfer and employee inventions) assessing the IP conformity of a method or product (Freedom to Operate Analysis) as well as advising our clients on IP strategies.

Having discovered my interest in the field of IP and especially patents already at university level I have completed my PhD thesis on the European Patent System. As part of my legal clerkship I have worked for the European Commission's Directorate General for Internal Market and Services (now part of DG GROW) assessing legal issues related to the EU Unitary Patent as well as for the presiding judge of the 15th senate of the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf in charge of patent matters.
