Dr. Markus Körner

I work as a partner in our Munich office where I'm a member of our Intellectual Property and Media, Entertainment and Sports Groups. Beside my legal advice, I am a member of the German Management Team of Bird & Bird.

Specialising in IP, in particular trade mark, competition and design law, as well as copyright and domain name law, I focus on litigation, strategic advice and contractual work (in particular licence agreements). My work also features the international coordination of proceedings and projects – such as advertising, but also large IP transaction projects – for national and multinational brands from a variety of industries including technology.

I also work in sports and media law, particularly in TV rights agreements, advertising, sponsorship and licence agreements. One of my consulting highlights in this area is the support of the ProSiebenSat.1 Media Group and its subsidiaries, which I have advised on numerous transactions.

I was admitted to the Munich bar in 2000 and I was a founding member of the Munich Bird & Bird office in 2003. Today, I speak and write regularly on the protection of industrial property.

I am a member of the German Intellectual Property Rights Association (GRUR), of MARQUES and of the International Sports Lawyers Association (ISLA). I'm also an arbitrator at the German Court of Arbitration of Sport (DIS).
