Dr. Jan van Dieck

As Counsel and a member of our intellectual property team based in Munich, I provide advice on technical property rights, particularly in the technical fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and medical products.

I advise and represent clients in the field of technical property rights, in particular in inter partes proceedings at the German Patent and Trade Mark Office, the European Patent Office and the German courts responsible for patent infringement and nullity proceedings. Over the years, I have represented clients from the pharma and biotech industries in patent matters at the European Patent Office, German federal courts, the German Patent Court and the Federal Supreme Court.

The focus of my practice is on the technical fields of biotechnology, medical products and pharmaceuticals, including the areas of personalised medicine, biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical formulations, immunotherapy, in-vitro diagnostics and crop protection. My experience includes working as a scientist for a pharmaceutical company, where I was involved in the development of a novel antibody format for therapeutic or diagnostic use.

I completed my training in the Munich office of an established patent attorney firm and stayed there for a few more years before joining our firm. I am a member of the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys and the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (EPI).
