Domien is a sharp IP lawyer and a well-rounded litigator.
Domien is counsel in our Intellectual Property Group, based in Brussels.
Over the last 10 years Domien has played a key part in the firm's handling of major IP disputes in Belgium and abroad. Dozens of court cases later, supporting and representing clients before the courts and intellectual property offices in Belgium and abroad, he is well-versed in the procedural intricacies of IP litigation.
Contract drafting and negotiation is an inherent part of his practice, either in order to help clients bring value to their IP, negotiate a safe passage bringing products to market or to find constructive out-of-court solutions whenever that may be the desired outcome.
While technical IP (patents, know-how) has always been at the heart of his practice, Domien also promotes the use of design and copyrights and has helped clients in banning copycats from the market. He has represented trademark holders in opposition and infringement proceedings and helped clients in recapturing their legitimate domain names. Domien is delighted to be able to work on behalf of cutting edge companies and to meet inspiring individuals in his daily practice, and thus likes to take the time to understand the technologies and businesses at hand.
Domien is fluent in Dutch, English and French, and has a good understanding of German. He has written a number of articles on different IP topics and is an active member of AIPPI (permanent member of the design group and the patent group), BMM, EPLAW and LES.
