Barnabás Simon

I'm a Senior Associate in the Corporate/M&A team based in Budapest, where I use my experience to advise clients, ranging from start-ups to multinationals and private equity funds, on strategic M&A, IPOs and other securities offerings, PE/VC investments and corporate reorganisations.

I primarily focus on advising clients operating in the financial services, retail & consumer, oil & gas and pharmaceutical industries on corporate transactions, but I am also experienced in assisting clients with complex fund regulatory matters under AIFMD and disclosure matters under MAR.

I particularly enjoy working on cross-border corporate transactions, which not only taught me how to tackle issues arising from the discrepancies among different jurisdictions, but also allowed me to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds without any difficulties.

Besides work, I am truly passionate about helping the CEE start-up ecosystem develop by serving on the Legal Committee of the Hungarian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (HVCA) as well as by providing support to NextGen, the young arm of HVCA, which I co-founded.

Before joining Bird & Bird, I worked at other major US and UK international law firms as an associate of the M&A, Competition Law and European Law practice groups.

I am fluent in English, in addition to my native Hungarian.
