Bálint is counsel and Head of the Intellectual Property (IP) group in our Budapest team.
He has advised on a range of contentious intellectual property matters for both national and international clients from various industry sectors, including electronics, pharmaceuticals and IT. Bálint has extensive experience in relation to patents, trade marks, designs, copyright, unfair competition and customs measures.
He has supported clients in the protection and enforcement of IP rights, including infringement litigation, anti-piracy strategies and alternative dispute resolution proceedings. His practice focuses on contentious litigation matters, as well as managing IP portfolios.
Bálint's practice areas include IT and privacy and data protection law He has also dealt with licence matters in the IT and life sciences sector, and online reputation management.
He joined us in 2008 after having worked at a Hungarian IP boutique law firm for four years. He has a degree in computer science and is currently completing his PhD at the Research Center for Information and Communication Technology Law of the University of Pécs (Hungary). He has also published several papers on domain names and IT and IP related issues in legal press including Infocommunication and Law. He contributed to the Commentary on Hungarian Trademark Law in which he wrote the chapter on domain names. Bálint also lectures in IT and IP law at university level.
Bálint is a member of the Budapest Bar, the Council of Copyright Experts, the Hungarian Group of AIPPI, the Hungarian Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright, the Hungarian Trademark Association, the Hungarian Copyright Forum Association, and ITechLaw.
