I advise our national and international clients on trade mark, design and unfair competition law from our Düsseldorf intellectual property team, particularly focusing on litigation in relation to non-technical IP rights as well as branding strategies.

Besides working and advising on a variety of issues of trade mark, design and unfair competition law, I focus on the representation of clients in legal proceedings concerning infringement, registration or cancellation of trade marks before the courts and the German and European trade mark offices. My cases range from infringement claims based on unusual trade mark forms as the three-dimensional shape of fashion items, over the enforcement of non-registered rights of film producers to the development of overall litigation strategies including the initiation of cancellation proceedings in a global trade mark dispute in the cosmetic sector.

In addition, I have experience in coordinating and advising on multinational settlement strategies as well as managing settlement discussions on a national and international Level, which also includes drafting of complex IP-related agreements. In this regard I have been involved with disputes in the cosmetic, automotive and beverage sectors that often involved several pending proceedings both before the courts and the trade mark offices.

Furthermore, I advise on branding and product design strategies starting from the assessment of the availability of the sign to advising on the final product packaging. This often includes the evaluation of preventive measures to avoid litigation like filing protective letters prior to a brand launch. In my practice I work together with clients in various different business positions and from different sectors, from national start-ups to multinational corporations.

During my doctoral studies, I worked for two international law firms in Hamburg and Düsseldorf, specialising in non-technical intellectual property rights. I joined our firm as an attorney in January 2018, having already worked for our IP team during my legal traineeship with the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf.
