Düsseldorf, 21.02.2011 - Bird & Bird LLP advises GEA Refrigeration Technologies GmbH - an international market leader for industrial refrigeration systems - on its acquisition of all shares in Bock Kältemaschinen GmbH. The transaction was signed shortly before Christmas and is subject to merger control clearance in various countries, expected for spring 2011. The parties agreed to keep the purchase price confidential.
Long-term client GEA Refrigeration Technologies is a wholly-owned subsidiary of GEA Group AG (Bochum) and one of the largest system providers in the food and beverages industry and the energy production area. GEA Group AG is listed on the German MDAX stock index and has a yearly turnover of approximately €4.4 billion (2009), and approximately 20,000 employees. It was the first time Bird & Bird advised GEA on an M&A transaction in Germany.
Bock Kältemaschinen GmbH (located near Stuttgart) is a leading producer of small and mid-sized compressors in the area of mobile and stationary cooling and heat exchanging. Bock Kältemaschinen GmbH is head of the Bock Group which has nine subsidiaries in Europe, Asia and Australia, and more than 330 employees.
