Bird & Bird involved in the PPP for the construction of Bordeaux's City council offices

Bird & Bird advised the city of Bordeaux for the signing of a public-private partnership contract with Bougues.

The PPP for Bordeaux's future City Council offices will take into account design, construction, servicing and maintenance of the energy-positive building which will be situated in the Meriadeck district, opposite the Town Hall. The selected consortiums include: Cirmad (authorised representative), in partnership with Bouygues, Richez Associates, Paul Andreu Paris architect and Exprimm. The PPP contract was signed on 22nd December 2011 following a year-long selection process, which began with 6 candidate consortiums and 12 architects in September 2010, i.e., 12 different architectural proposals for this symbolic project. It was an open race.

The City Council offices will group together all of the city’s public services in one building, and bring together about 850 employees who are currently spread over about 15 different buildings. Notably, the city's social welfare centre, currently situated at Cours St Louis, will be relocated to the new offices.

Construction should begin in May/June 2012, and be completed by spring 2014.
