Bird & Bird LLP announces today that it has further strengthened its German Corporate / M&A group with the appointment of new partner Alfred Herda, from Clifford Chance.
Alfred has been a partner at Clifford Chance since 1994 and focuses on corporate finance/M&A and private equity. From 2003 to 2004 he was Managing Partner of Clifford Chance in Düsseldorf.
Alfred's clients include large companies, entrepreneur companies and investors, particularly in the areas of automotive, project planning and energy. Alfred's arrival is a major boost to Bird & Bird's Corporate Group as his particular expertise in energy & utilities is strategically important in the current economic climate. Alfred's arrival follows the appointment of Lovells partner Wolfgang Hess in the corporate / M&A group in Frankfurt at the beginning of the year.
Commenting on Alfred’s appointment, Alexander Schröder-Frerkes, Managing Partner of Bird & Bird Germany, said:
"We are delighted to welcome Alfred Herda to the firm. The fact that we can attract a partner with his considerable expertise and reputation reflects the strength and development of Bird & Bird in Germany and the corporate / M&A group. We are happy that with his arrival we can strengthen our expertise and broaden the service in the areas of automotive and energy & utilities.
Commenting on his own appointment, Alfred Herda added: "With its integrated service and deep industry knowledge, Bird & Bird is performing very well in these difficult times and is differentiating itself from other firms. It is exciting to be part of an international team with energy and expe-rience to grow even in this environment. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to build my practice and best support my clients."
