International law firm Bird & Bird has recruited Marc van Wijngaarden, an IP litigation lawyer to further strengthen the firm’s IP capabilities in The Netherlands. Marc joins Bird & Bird as a partner from Dutch patent firm Arnold & Siedsma. His appointment follows on from a tide of recent recruits across the firm’s international offices in recent months including the arrival of IP partners Shirley Kwok in Asia and Sally Shorthose in London.
Marc is a respected IP litigation lawyer – he has represented clients in cross-border cases in the fields of patents, mainly in the fields of pharmaceuticals, chemical, electronic and mechanical engineering. He also has extensive experience of trademarks and copyright protection. At Bird & Bird, Marc will work alongside IP partner Armand Killan and head of the IP Group in The Hague, Wouter Pors, to continue to build the firm’s IP practice in The Netherlands.
Commenting on his arrival, Wouter Pors said:
“I’m delighted Marc is joining us. He has extensive experience of IP litigation and in particular cross-border patent litigation which makes him an excellent fit with Bird & Bird and our wider international IP team”.
“This is a great opportunity for me. Bird & Bird has one of the pre-eminent IP groups in Europe and Asia. I am very excited about joining them”.
