Bird & Bird launches tax practice in Germany with key recruit

International law firm Bird & Bird has recruited Dr. Patrick Sinewe to launch a dedicated tax practice in the firm’s Frankfurt office. Patrick’s appointment follows the expansion of the firm’s international tax practice which has been building its tax capabilities in the past two years across its European network. The firm has specialists in the UK, France, Sweden and The Netherlands.

Joining from Mayer, Brown, Rowe and Maw, Patrick brings extensive experience to Bird & Bird across all areas of international and corporate tax law. He has been involved in numerous M&A and LBO transactions as well as tax-driven cross-border financing and real estate transactions. He was admitted to the Frankfurt bar in 2001 and the Frankfurt Chamber of Tax Consultants in 2004. He is qualified as attorney, certified tax expert and tax advisor.

Commenting on his appointment, Anne Quenedey, head of the firm’s international tax group said:

“Patrick has excellent experience and I’m sure his insights and strong capability particularly in international tax activities will be of huge added value to our clients. The growth of our team across Europe has gone from strength to strength in the past couple of years alone and having tax capabilities in Germany – an important location for our team – is an important development for us”.

Commenting on his appointment, Patrick added:

“I am of course delighted to be joining Bird & Bird which has demonstrated considerable commitment to building its tax capabilities on an international basis and I’m thoroughly looking forward to contributing to this growth”.
