International law firm Bird & Bird has recruited one of Belgium’s leading IP lawyers, Jean-Christophe Troussel, to reinforce the firm’s intellectual property capabilities in Brussels. Jean-Christophe will also play a key role in the growth of the firm’s international IP group. He joins Bird & Bird on the 3rd of September.
Joining from Linklaters, where he was head of their Brussels based IP group, Jean-Christophe brings over 17 years experience covering a wide range of IP work for mainly international and Belgian multi-national clients in several sectors including life sciences and FMCG. His experience combines a broad range of litigation in patent, trade mark, domain name and unfair competition disputes with a transactional practice, advising clients on all types of tech-transfer agreements and on all IP aspects of M&A and other corporate deals. At Bird & Bird, he will work alongside current head of Bird & Bird’s Brussels IP group, Bruno Vandermeulen, to help build the practice further.
Commenting on his appointment, Paul Hermant, managing partner of Bird & Bird’s Brussels office said:
“We are very glad that Jean-Christophe has decided to join us. Our IP group here in Brussels under the leadership of Bruno Vandermeulen has gone from strength to strength and having Jean-Christophe on board will only help to develop and diversify the practice further. He is a first class lawyer with an outstanding track record. I’m sure he’ll be a perfect fit”.
Commenting on his appointment, Jean-Christophe said:
“I am of course delighted to be joining Bird & Bird which is a leading firm for intellectual property in Europe and Asia and continues to demonstrate considerable commitment to building its international IP capabilities. I’m thoroughly looking forward to contributing to this growth”.
