Firm’s successful bid offers wider range of services under main central government legal framework.
International law firm Bird & Bird has been appointed to the Government's "Catalist" framework – the legal advisory framework in the public sector, the replacement for L-Cat. After a highly competitive selection process, Bird & Bird was appointed to Lot 7 covering full commercial services. The selection has broadened the amount of work the firm offers under the framework compared to the previous arrangement under L-Cat.
Bird & Bird is already one of the leading legal firms in the public sector, in particular in relation to central government, with a reputation for top quality legal advice combined with a real understanding of the sector and pragmatic and innovative service models.
With the appointment to Lot 7 (the 'full commercial' sub-panel), the firm has expanded from its original scope of work under L-Cat to become qualified for work in any of the following: IT and telecoms, property and estates, construction, employment and pensions, corporate and finance, IP and general outsourcing and other commercial work.
Commenting Hamish Sandison, head of Bird & Bird's UK public sector group, said:
“We are absolutely delighted with our re-appointment. We are particularly pleased to have expanded the scope of our appointment from our traditional strengths in IP, IT, telecoms and e-commerce to include employment and pensions, corporate, property and construction work, recognising our ability to provide a full range of high quality services to clients in our key sectors, ranging from one-off advice and small scale contracts up to fully financed, complex PPPs. This appointment will allow us to build on our market leading position working with the UK public sector, which continues to be one of our most important strategic areas of business.”
