International law firm Bird & Bird has recruited Simon Allport to join its expanding International Corporate Group. Based in the firm's London office, Simon joins Bird & Bird from Jones Day where until recently he was a partner in their London office. His appointment follows on from the hire of corporate partner Alistair Crellin, who joined Bird & Bird from Pinsent Masons before Christmas.
A highly regarded corporate lawyer, Simon's experience covers a full range of corporate finance, M&A and private equity work with a strong reputation for AIM work and public takeovers. While at Jones Day, he was seconded for two years to The Panel on Takeovers and Mergers. Along with Alistair Crellin, Simon’s appointment continues the strategic goal towards developing an internationally recognised public securities and capital markets capability, supporting the firm's IPO and corporate finance activities
Commenting on his appointment, Mark Pinder, co-head of Bird & Bird’s international corporate group said,
"We're all delighted that Simon is joining us, he is the firm’s 29th corporate partner, demonstrating the firm’s continued strategy of growing our international corporate group. He brings skills and experience that fit perfectly into our corporate finance practice and complements the other partners in the group. I have complete confidence that he’ll play a key role as we continue to develop our practice.”
"Bird & Bird has demonstrated a strong commitment to expanding its corporate team - not just in the UK but also internationally - and the firm has a clear and compelling vision of its positioning in the international legal market. I am excited to be joining such a dynamic team and look forward to working with Mark and my other new colleagues in helping to achieve the firm’s strategic goals."
