International law firm Bird & Bird, has recruited a team of competition lawyers to its office in Brussels. Joining from Stanbrook & Hooper, the team will be led by partner Wilko van Weert who will also head up Bird & Bird’s Competition Practice in Brussels. He will be joined by Stanbrook & Hooper associates Indiana de Sèze and Filip Ragolle. The team will join the firm on 1st May.
The appointment of the team follows rapid investment in the expansion of Bird & Bird’s EU and Competition capability, which has seen a number of significant appointments in London and Paris over the last two years.
Wilko van Weert and his team bring with them a wealth of experience. In particular Wilko has led teams handling a number of significant cases for clients in the life sciences, communications, media and IT sectors; all of which correspond to Bird & Bird’s main areas of focus. Having also spent 3 years at the Dutch competition authority, Wilko has very good connections with the EU Commission.
