Law Firm wins Government’s L-Cat contract for IT, Telecoms, E-Commerce, Banking and General Commercial work
International law firm Bird & Bird has been appointed to the “L-Cat” (“Lawyer’s Directory”) framework – the newly established legal advisory framework in the public sector. After a highly competitive selection process by the Office of Government Commerce (“OGC”), the Treasury Solicitors Department and the Department for Education & Skills, Bird & Bird has been appointed to panels on IT, Telecommunications, E-Commerce, Banking and Finance and General Commercial law.
Operated by OGC’s buying.solutions division, L-Cat will give Central Government Departments, Agencies and Non-Departmental Public Bodies easy access to panels of law firms offering value for money. L-Cat is likely to become an important vehicle for public sector organisations to secure legal advice.
Commenting Hamish Sandison, Chair of Bird & Bird, who led the bid team, said:
“We are absolutely delighted with our L-Cat appointment. It will allow us to continue to build on our preeminent position in the UK public sector market, as well as securing more work from private sector clients bidding into the public sector. The appointment to L-Cat is important to us because it also represents a strengthening of our relationship with the OGC while our wide range of commercial legal services to the public sector will continue to be an important and growing area of business for Bird & Bird.”
