Key hires central to European expansion
International law firm, Bird & Bird, only recently established in The Hague, has attracted two tax specialists to expand its range of corporate services. Pieter Camps and Martin Rabenort, who join from Arthur Andersen, will start at Bird & Bird on 1 February 2002.
Camps and Rabenort have wide experience in the international tax arena and are specialists in the field of real estate and e-commerce. Their arrival will be significant to the corporate team in The Hague which already offers a comprehensive range of business legal services to its clients. There are plans for further recruitment in the tax field in the near future.
Commenting on their appointments, Marjolein Geus, managing partner of Bird & Bird in The Hague, said:
"The knowledge and experience that Camps and Rabenort will be bringing with them, are indispensable for us in our aim to further develop an integrated approach for our practice in the Netherlands and abroad. Our clients and the markets in which they operate, are becoming more and more international, and to fully service these markets, we also need international tax specialists in addition to our foreign offices".
In December 2001, Bird & Bird established a presence in The Hague with 17 lawyers, including 4 partners, servicing clients in the communications, IT, life sciences, e-commerce and media sectors. A wide range of work will be covered, including corporate, general commercial, IP and litigation.
These latest hires are evidence of the firm's continuing emphasis on expansion. Now in 6 countries, Bird & Bird has well-publicised intentions to expand in other European jurisdictions, including Germany, Italy and Spain.
