Kofola, a traditional Czech company producing non-alcoholic beverages, has recently acquired its second chain of "fresh" bars Mangaloo. Mangaloo has 17 bars offering fresh fruit and vegetable juices, salads and soups and adds to Kofola's 2012 acquisition of UGO's network of fresh bars. This latest acquisition puts Kofola at number one in this segment on the Czech market, with a total of 37 fresh bars.
This latest acquisition is in line with the latest fad for fresh products, as Czech consumers switch from concentrated juices to trendy freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. Kofola Group employs approximately 2,100 people and counts among the most important producers of non-alcoholic beverages in Central and Eastern Europe. Kofola Group is usually associated with its most famous cola-based soft drink "Kofola", but its portfolio of brands is much larger (Rajec, Jupí, Jupík, Vinea, Pickwick ice tea etc.). In March 2014, Kofola also announced its intention to acquire famous Slovenian mineral water Radenska and thereby to expand into the Balkan market.
