Advanced supply contract for pandemic flu vaccine awarded to GSK and Baxter Healthcare

On 16 August 2007, the Department of Health announced that it had awarded advanced supply contracts for a pandemic flu vaccine to both Baxter Healthcare and GSK. Under these contracts, upon identification of a pandemic influenza strain by the World Health Organisation, GSK and Baxter will manufacture and supply a tailor-made pandemic influenza vaccine to the NHS. The contracts are reported to be worth £155.4m over four years.
