EdTech Networking Event

04 April 2017

17.00 - 20.00

Bird & Bird, 12 New Fetter Lane, London EC4A 1JP

Our informal event will begin with a brief presentation by speakers from Discovery Education. The discussion will focus on how the edtech market is evolving; some of the challenges facing new entrants; and the development of an international education business.

Christopher Mathews is Vice President, in charge of international business development. Chris developed a landmark deal with the government of Egypt by which Discovery Education has built a content portal and is delivering digital content and professional development in both English and Arabic across the whole state education system in Egypt.

Lewis Bronze is Vice President for content development in the UK. Previously the Editor of Blue Peter, he was the co-founder of Espresso Education in 1997. In 2013, he was awarded the MBE for services to education.

Discovery Education, part of the global Discovery Communications group, entered the UK education market three years ago through the acquisition of Espresso Education. Espresso was a pioneer in delivering curated digital content into the classroom, and built up a significant market footprint in the UK. Discovery Education has led the way in the USA in providing digital alternatives to printed textbooks in core subjects like science and mathematics, and is a leader in STEM education. The professional teachers’ community, the Discovery Educators Network, is claimed to be one of the largest teacher networks in the world.
