'Grid Access: Still a major barrier to new energy generation in the UK?'

Guest speakers:

  • Danielle Lane, Regulatory Affairs Manager, DONGEnergy Power (UK) Ltd previously at The Crown Estate
  • Duncan Sinclair, Barrister, 39 Essex Street Chambers previously Legal Director, OFGEM

If the UK is to meet its 20-20-20 renewables targets and ensure security of supply, large amounts of electricity generation developments will need connection to the grid in the next decade.  However, long delays in grid connection dates are preventing energy generation projects from reaching timely completion, at vast cost to the developers.  The DECC have recognised that immediate and effective reform is required.  Our guest speakers and in house experts will:

  • provide their perspectives on the pervasive issues around grid connection (both in relation to onshore and offshore projects);
  • make comparisons against the approach across Europe;
  • look at recent reform through the connect and manage regime; and
  • give their thoughts on whether the future looks any brighter.
