The Business Immigration Team at Bird & Bird is pleased to invite you to an afternoon briefing session to discuss the Government's evolving immigration policy and, in particular, the limits which are scheduled to be implemented on 1 April 2011.
On 23 November 2010 the Government announced a set of measures designed to control UK business immigration including the closure of the Tier 1 (General) scheme and a limit on the number of Certificates of Sponsorship that can be issued annually under the Tier 2 (General) scheme. These measures were scheduled to be introduced in April 2011 to replace the interim limits that have applied to certain immigration applications since 19 July 2010. However, following the number of applications received following this announcement, the Government has already closed the Tier 1 (General) scheme for overseas applicants altogether and further reduced the interim limit for Tier 2 (General) Certificates to 10,832.
With the full extent of the "April proposals" still unclear and with further announcements likely it is vital that employers keep up-to-date with Government policy if they are to continue to be able to recruit key personnel from outside the European Economic Area and manage their migrant workforce. With this in mind, the Business Immigration Team at Bird & Bird will be holding an afternoon briefing session on Thursday, 10 March 2011 to discuss these changes and offer some practical guidance on how employers can prepare themselves, both for the April 2011 changes and beyond.
We hope you can join us.
