CJEU finds Hungarian gambling regulation to be incompatible with EU laws

A recent CJEU decision has found Hungarian national gambling legislation to be incompatible with EU laws. In particular, Hungarian national gambling legislation is seen as not compliant with the fundamental principles of the Treaty of the Functioning of the European Union. While the decision was somewhat expected, the Hungarian government does not wish to retreat from their stance on the issue and has stated that it will continue to fight against unlicensed operators.
