Ulrich M. Gassner is Senior European Consultant at Bird & Bird and is a member of the German life sciences-team.

He is one of the leading German experts in the area of national and international law of drugs and medicinal products. During his year-long occupation as off counsel he advised companies ranging from start-ups up to corporate groups quoted in the leading German stock index DAX. He also acted as consultant for industry associations and set up a plurality of legal expert reports.

Apart from his commitment for Bird & Bird, Ulrich teaches as professor at Augsburg University, at the Munich Intellectual Property Law Centre (MIPLC) and also at the Université René Descartes (Paris 5). He is a founding director of the Research Center for Medical Device Law (Forschungsstelle für Medizinprodukterecht (FMPR)) and leading member of the Institute for Biological, Health and Medicine Law (Institut für Bio-, Gesundheits- und Medizinrecht (IBGM)) at the University of Augsburg.

Ulrich has published five books and more than 100 other contributions. In addition, he gives specialist lectures at home and abroad.
