Peter is a partner specialising in intellectual property law. Although involved in a wide range of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property work, Peter has particular experience in passing off, trade mark, copyright, design and patent litigation and regularly speaks and writes on a number of these subjects.
His experience includes acting for the Claimants in Micro Matic A/S –v- DSI & others (patent); Mercury Communications v Mercury Interactive (UK) Ltd (Registered trade mark infringement); Chocosuisse & others v Cadbury Limited (Passing Off) both in the High Court and in the Court of Appeal; Associated Newspapers Limited v Metro News Limited (Trade mark infringement); and the Defendants in Manchester Evening News Limited and Guardian Newspapers v Associated Newspapers Limited both in the High Court and Court of Appeal (Passing Off); David West (trading as Eastenders) v Fuller Smith and Turner plc (Trade Mark revocation) and Saint Gobain v Electrosteel Casting Ltd and Fusion Provida Ltd also in the High Court and Court of Appeal (patent).
Peter is an associate member of the Institute of Trade Mark Agents and has sat on their Designs and Copyright Committee since 1996. Since 1998 Peter has been co-editor of the INTA publication "Community Trade Mark - Regulations Practice and Procedure".
