Michelle focuses on Energy. She handles the regulatory aspects of the exploration, production, trading, distribution and sale of energy natural resources. She advises national and multinational companies and institutions on matters such as energy contracts, (sustainable) energy projects and CO2 allowances. She is a frequent litigator in the field of energy law both in administrative law proceedings against decisions of the Dutch Energy Regulator and civil law actions.
According to Chambers Global 2007, a leading legal directory, “the “thorough and knowledgeable” Michelle de Rijke is recognised for her regulatory expertise.” Michelle is also mentioned as a highly recommended individual for Energy in PLC, Yearbook 2006.
She has published various works in the area of energy and is a regular speaker on national and international conferences (e.g. the 23rd World Gas Conference in June 2006 where she presented the paper "Third-party access and investments in LNG terminals"). Michelle is a member of the Board of the Dutch Association of Energy Lawyers (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Energierecht) and editor of the Dutch Journal on Energy Law (Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Energierecht).
