Guido joined Bird & Bird in June 2007. He specialises in commercial law, public procurement law, energy law and privatisations.
From 1995 to 2000, Guido Bormann studied law in Osnabrück and acquired additional qualifications in economics. After his legal clerkship he worked for a large and highly reputed company, Europe-wide. There he advised the department of industrial audit and certification in legal matters and monitored major projects in transport and infrastructure, especially within the scope of planning approvals.
Guido primarily works with public authorities and companies as well as infrastructural major projects in the branch of telecommunications and IT. He has experience in federal and state-level public procurement procedures concerning the assembly and operation of digital radio for German security authorities, state-level projects for the modernisation of the public data network as well as numerous proceedings for the introduction of the electronic health insurance card including the build-up and operation of telematics in the German health sector, advising in administrative and contractual law. Furthermore, he advises business companies and health insurance companies on matters of public procurement, health and pharmaceutical law, especially in matters of discount contracts for pharmaceuticals. Further main tasks include consulting in the field of purchasing defence technology and proceedings in the fields of waste and environment.
Guido advises on foreign trade legislation, particularly in regard to export regulations. In terms of wholly and comprehensively advising our clients, he works closely with his European colleagues at Bird & Bird.
Guido advises both private companies and public authorities in matters of compliance. In addition to contributing to seminars and lectures, he publishes juridical essays concerning to public procurement law.
Guido is fluent in German, English and French.
