Claire joined the intellectual property department of Bird & Bird on her qualification as a solicitor in September 2004, after undertaking her training contract at Lovells.
 
Claire graduated from Cambridge (Sidney Sussex College) in 2000 with a first class MA (Hons) in Natural Sciences and a first class MSci (Hons) in Physics. For her major research project, Claire studied the diffraction of electrons by amorphous carbon. Claire went on to Nottingham Law School where she was awarded a post-graduate diploma in Law, graduating top of her year, and obtained a distinction in the Legal Practice Course.

Claire advises on a broad range of intellectual property related issues and has worked with clients in the electronics, software, telecommunications and medical equipment industries. Claire is currently involved in a large patent action concerning the essentiality of certain patents for wireless and mobile communications systems using 3G based technologies to the 3GPP standard. Recent cases Claire has been involved in include acting for the patentee in patent infringement and revocation actions relating to a medical imaging device and a pharmaceutical product, and advising on copyright issues in relation to musical compositions. Claire has also been involved in a judicial review in the field of plant protection product regulation and provided advice on software licensing.

Claire is an Associate Member of the Institute of Physics.
