Alik Dörn has been working for Bird & Bird since 2004. He specializes in privatization and public procurement as well as in state regulatory and competition law, in addition to his activities in numerous European state aid law projects. His practice also concentrates in administrative law issues. 

Alik’s clients include large corporations in pharmaceuticals, energy and telecommunications as well as public and private utilities, waste disposal enterprises, special purpose associations related to Public Private Partnerships (PPP) and medium sized enterprises. Further clients include several German states as well as numerous districts and local municipal entities and their (partly) privatised units and undertakings.

There Mr. Dörn counsels and represents the local government and tenderers in review proceedings before public procurement tribunals and High Courts, in which privatization projects are often the subject matter. In turn, his counsel includes the preparation and coordination of award procedures, whereby the drafting of tender documentation including construction, supply and service agreements, in particular maintenance and operation contracts and the completing award memorandum are involved. Mr. Dörn's practice is rounded out with his learned understanding of related areas such as state, budgetary, local government and in particular subsidy laws. 

Alik Dörn graduated from the University of Frankfurt a.M.. During his studies he worked with the German Parliament. In 2001, he passed his final state examination, and completed his legal education with a Master of Laws in International Commercial Law focusing on European Law at the University of Nottingham in 2003. He was admitted to the Bar in 2004.
