Jasper specialises in customs and international trade regulation and product regulatory advice, including general product and food safety.

He advises and litigates on customs classification, customs valuation and transfer pricing, rules of origin and general customs compliance.  He also has extensive experience with im- and export regulations concerning product and food safety and the EU common agricultural policy.

A substantial part of his practice is the application of EU Export Controls and Sanctions, including the interaction between EU and national laws and USA rules.

On the compliance side, Jasper works with clients on drafting and maintaining compliance programs and internal training as well as internal investigations and representation in customs’ audits and other government investigations.

Jasper has litigated before administrative, tax and customs courts as well as the European Court of Justice and represents clients before various EU customs and other administrations.

Together with the firm’s IP lawyers, Jasper has extensive experience in advising both plaintiffs and defendants in patent litigation on the strategic use of TRIPS border measures in various EU jurisdictions. He also assists Bird & Bird’s IP lawyers in anti-counterfeiting work.
