Caterina Rucci holds a Degree in Law from the University of Milan and has specialised in employment law since 1985. She was admitted to the Italian Bar in 1989. After spending a total of 14 years in the employment law practices of two leading Milanese firms, she joined Bird and Bird in October 2003. She is based in the firm’s office in Milan and speaks Italian, English, German and French.
Caterina handles all aspects of employment law, both contentious and non-contentious, covering Italian and international issues. She regularly advises on employment contracts, senior executive contracts and terminations, restrictive covenants, transfers of undertakings, collective redundancies, mergers and acquisitions. Caterina has considerable experience dealing with specific procedural issues of the employment tribunals and competent courts. She has also appeared personally before the European Court of Justice in the Job Centre case (freedom to provide services – employees placement).
Caterina is an active member of the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA) and a member of the Italian Employment Lawyers Association (AGI). She lectures frequently at external conferences, seminars and workshops on employment law matters, and has been Assistant Professor at the employment law department of the University of Milan. She has also contributed to various publications on topical employment law issues.
