Kai is a member of the Intellectual Property and Competition Law Group of Bird & Bird, Germany. His work focuses on patent and utility model law.
Kai passed his two German legal state exams in 2002 and 2004 in Augsburg and Munich. Afterwards, he studied at Boston University and obtained his LL.M. in Intellectual Property in 2005. He wrote his PhD about the validity of restrictions in software contracts under patent and copyright law in Germany and the United States. Kai was admitted to the Düsseldorf bar in September 2005. Before joining Bird & Bird in May 2007 he worked in the Intellectual Property team of the law firm Taylor Wessing in Düsseldorf.
Kai is a member of the German Association for Intellectual Property and Copyright Law (GRUR) and the German-American Lawyers Association (DAJV).
He speaks English and German.
