Emily Peters
Emily joined the IP group at Bird & Bird in 2007. She advises on all aspects of intellectual property including both contentious and non contentious matters. She has worked with clients from a number of different sectors including agroscience and pharmaceutical companies in addition to manufacturers, and software development companies. Since her background is in Chemistry, she has a particular interest in the life sciences and pharma sectors. Emily has also advised on IP issues in relation to a broad range of corporate sales and acquisitions from the acquisition of a business supplying separation systems for mining applications to the sale of a software development business for MOD applications.

In 2007, Emily was seconded to a major international car manufacturer where she advised on a broad range of commercial contracts including research, development and marketing collaborations, primarily in respect of the Formula 1 business. She also advised on general brand protection in relation to the management and enforcement of its IP portfolio.

Emily has a Masters Degree in Chemistry from the University of Bath and a PhD in Inorganic Materials Chemistry from University College London. She has worked as a research chemist for Zeneca Agrochemicals/Syngenta and GlaxoSmithKline in the Physical Chemistry, Bioperformance and Organic Synthesis functions before qualifying as a solicitor.

Emily has a number of published articles contributing to a range of publications including the Journal of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents, the World Intellectual Property Report and the World Copyright Report.
