During his role as managing partner of Truman Hoyle the firm was twice named Australian Law Firm of the Year in the first three years of his tenure.
Shane is the lead partner of the firm’s Australian Corporate Law group and one of the key partners in the firm’s Tech & Comms and Media groups. He enjoys a high profile in the Australian legal industry and has over 25 years’ experience acting for some of Australia’s major corporations in the knowledge economy sectors.
As well as being a key legal and regulatory advisor for two of the country’s four leading telecommunications carriers and numerous carriage service providers, he has advised many peak industry groups around the world, including in South Africa, Israel, and New Zealand. Shane advises on complex issues such as telecommunications interception, data storage and convergence issues generally.
He is widely recognised as one of the region’s pre-eminent network rollout legal and regulatory specialists and is currently advising on two of the most significant key network rollout projects in Australia, being the rollout of the wireless elements of the new National Broadband Network and the national infill project for Vodafone (in its joint venture with Optus).
Shane also conducts a busy corporate practice, including undertaking mergers and acquisitions, fundraising (including IPOs), capital markets advisory work and corporate regulatory advice. Many of the clients serviced in this part of the practice are significant national and international organisations in new economy industries, increasingly in relation to ecommerce enterprises in the advertising and travel and leisure industries.
