Roman Brtka is a Counsel in our Intellectual Property Practice, based in Munich.
He specialises in the field of intellectual property law and advises domestic and international clients in particular in the areas of trademark, design, unfair competition and copyright law.
Roman was admitted to the Munich bar in 2010 and previously worked for our Munich office in various professional functions. In addition, since 2008 he is a qualified business mediator (MuCDR).
During his studies at the University of Passau and King’s College London, where he was awarded the Diploma in Legal Studies, he focused on all aspects of intellectual property law. After successful completion of the masters' programme “European and International Trade Law” at the Ludwig Maximilian University (Munich) he was awarded with a master of laws (LL.M. Eur.). The title of his master thesis is “Protection of product shapes in the automotive industry with particular focus on trade mark law”.
Roman has spent time on secondment to the legal department of a major German automobile manufacturer in the premium segment. In addition to classic trademark and competition law issues, he advised and supported in various projects in the fields of social media.
Roman is a member of the German Intellectual Property Association and Copyright Law (GRUR) and the European Communities Trademark Association (ECTA). He regularly publishes texts, particularly on IP related topics.
