Richard has a wealth of experience in advising clients on disputes in the banking and financial services, insurance, TMT, energy, construction and professional services sectors.

Richard is a Partner specialising in commercial litigation and arbitration and heads the firm’s Dispute Resolution Practice in Hong Kong and China. He has been resident in Hong Kong for over twelve years and during that time has worked on many of Hong Kong’s highest profile disputes.

He has advised both plaintiffs and defendants in relation to a broad range of commercial disputes including contractual disputes, professional indemnity and insurance matters, shareholder disputes, corporate insolvency, fraud and corruption cases, employment issues, disputes involving trade secrets and confidential information, and infringements of intellectual property rights.

Richard has represented clients before High Court, Court of Appeal and Court of Final Appeal (Hong Kong), Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), CIETAC, and High Court, Court of Appeal and Privy Council (London).

Much of Richard’s experience involves resolving complex commercial and multi-jurisdictional issues and an increasing amount of his work is focused on mainland China. 

Richard also regularly advises clients in relation to investigations by regulatory authorities, including the Securities and Futures Commission, Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Confederation of Insurance Brokers, and HKICPA.

Richard is recognised as a leading individual for dispute resolution, insurance and intellectual property by Chambers Asia Pacific 2012.
