About Me

I am a Special Counsel in our Intellectual Property Group, based in Sydney. I advise clients from a range of sectors as diverse as life sciences, engineering, telecoms, food & beverage, fashion and furniture on all aspects of IP law.

My main focus is on patent matters, in particular patent litigation, where I have acted for clients in relation to a large variety of technologies including pharmaceuticals, mining, telecommunications, and banking and payment systems. In the patent space, I also assist clients with more strategic intellectual property matters, such as licensing, and freedom to operate opinions.

I also assist clients with trade mark matters. The type of work I do in this space includes advice in relation to trade mark protection and enforcement strategy. I also act for clients in more contentious trade mark matters, such as trade mark opposition, and trade mark infringement proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia, including acting for a client in the Federal Court of Australia in relation to the use of a registered trade mark as part of a Google AdWords strategy. I also assist clients in relation to domain name disputes.
Experience
  • I regularly act for clients in Federal Court of Australia proceedings. Most recently, I have acted for a large Korean steel manufactuer and pharmaceutical companies in patent infringement proceedings.
  • I have also recently acted for a mulitnational pharmaceutical company in relation to the recovery of damages arising from an undertaking as to damages given on an interlocutory injunction.
  • In the trade marks space, I have acted in proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia in relation to the use of registered trade marks as part of Google AdWords campaigns, and in appeals brought from the Trade Marks Office.
