Rachel is an intellectual property lawyer with a wide range of expertise.
Rachel joined Bird & Bird in September 2004 and qualified in September 2006 into the Intellectual Property Group.
Rachel advises on a broad range of intellectual property matters for clients across a number of different sectors, including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, aviation and the media. She has experience in all aspects of intellectual property litigation as well as patent and trade mark opposition proceedings. Rachel is often involved in pan-European actions and regularly works with our other offices across Europe.
Having graduated from the University of Alberta, Canada in 1997 with a BSc in Cell Biotechnology, Rachel spent some time researching and presenting on health care ethics. Shethen went on to complete a Masters in health care ethics at the University of Leeds. While working in medical publishing, Rachel completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Law and the LPC. Rachel also completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property in June 2008.
Rachel presents externally on intellectual property issues and has contributed to legal publications including the World Intellectual Property Report and the Journal of the Chartered Institute of Patent Agents (CIPA).
