About Me

I'm a leading telecoms and media lawyer at Bird & Bird in The Netherlands. Based in The Hague, I am a partner in our Commercial, Regulatory and Data Protection Groups, and a member of our Tech & Comms, Media and Life Sciences Groups.

With many years' expertise in telecoms and media law, particularly applied to litigation against regulators, I'm best known for my administrative litigation work on behalf of large telecoms operators and media enterprises, including 'Games of Chance' providers.

Over the years I've worked closely with, and built excellent contacts at the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM), the Telecoms Agency (AT), the Dutch Media Authority (CvdM), the Dutch Data Protection Authority (CBP) and the Dutch Games of Chance Authority (KSA).

Here at Bird & Bird, I have represented large telecoms operators in appeal proceedings against ACM's market analysis decisions concerning mobile and fixed termination tariffs (MTRs/FTRs), unbundled local loop (ULL) and wholesale broadband access (WBA). In addition, I have expertise in net neutrality, interconnection, interoperability and frequencies. I also advise and litigate for national broadcasters on their obligations under media law, and lecture and publish regularly on these subjects.

I worked at another top tier law firm in the Netherlands before joining the team at Bird & Bird in 2015.

I'm a member of the Dutch Associations for Media and Communication Law (VMC), Information Technology and Law (NVvIR) and Pharmaceutical Law (VFR). I am also co-author of the only comprehensive legal manual on the Dutch Telecoms and Data Protection Act (Kluwer Tekst & Commentaar Telecom- en Privacyrecht – 5th edition 2015).
