Lars has a long-standing expertise in grid & renewables and as a former in-house counsel he knows the energy sector from the inside.
As a Counsel in our Hamburg office, Lars is a member of our International Energy and Utilities Sector Group and our Offshore Wind sub-group.
He advises international and domestic companies, banks and investors on all types of commercial contracts and corporate/M&A transactions with a special focus on the energy sector. His expertise comprises all aspects of complex EPC and commercial contracts as well as joint ventures, corporate transactions (including equity investments) and corporate restructurings.
Lars has been deeply involved in all grid connection systems in the German North Sea for TSO Tennet as well as in the NordLink interconnector. He has advised on several large-volume offshore EPC contracts in the initiation, tender (EU tender) and execution phase. He is, therefore, intimately familiar with all issues relating to the planning and construction of offshore wind farms, grid connections and interconnectors. He has furthermore comprehensive experience as a leading negotiator in complex and long-lasting negotiations as well as resolving disputes during the construction phase of any such projects as well as thereafter.
More generally, Lars has been involved in and has led complex projects relating to the implementation of new and disruptive technologies in the energy sector as part of the German policy on energy transition (“Energiewende”) for several years, at the German, European and global level.
Lars gives regularly presentations and speeches on topics related to grids, renewables and offshore wind.
Before joining us, Lars worked for five years as an in-house counsel for the TSO TenneT in both the Netherlands and Germany and as a lawyer for different law firms.
