Jenny Rontu

I am a Senior Associate in our Dispute Resolution Group in Helsinki, where I work on real estate and construction related matters. I also take part in real estate transactions, as well as development projects. Due to my background in the start-up scene, I advise on related Corporate Group's matters.

I have specialised in environmental, land use, building and energy law and have extensive experience of real estate and construction-related matters. I assist our clients on a broad range of real estate-related contractual matters, such as lease and construction contracts, real estate development projects, transactions and environmental issues. I also advise our clients in dispute resolution, especially in the real estate sector.

In addition to acting as a legal adviser to our clients, I have hands-on experience establishing a growing company and running a business. In 2017 I founded a legal tech start-up. While working there, I oversaw all legal matters of the company, including commercial contracts, finance, corporate matters, and compliance. I'm happy to assist start-ups with their legal needs from formation and financing rounds to commercial matters with this experience.

During my time at Bird & Bird, I have also been seconded (part-time) for five months. I worked as an in-house counsel assisting in lease and other agreements, insolvency procedures, and corporate matters.

I have a Master of Laws degree, and additionally, I hold a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree majoring in social psychology from the University of Helsinki.

I'm a native speaker of Finnish and I also speak fluent English.
