Javier is renowned for his IT expertise and his highly practical, commercial approach.
Javier is the managing partner of our Madrid office and the head of the Information Technology, Commercial and Dispute Resolution Groups in Spain.
He has been at the forefront of reaching settlement agreements in some of the most significant disputes in the IT consultancy and media sectors in Spain. Javier also has extensive experience assisting European clients in their expansion in Latin America and US clients in their European expansion.
An arbitrator at the Information and Communication Technologies department of the Chamber of Commerce of Madrid, Javier is also a CEDR (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution) accredited mediator who has advised on a number of alternative dispute resolution cases for clients. Javier is has also been admitted to the CPR (International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution) Panel of Distinguished Neutrals.
Javier was one of the first lawyers to represent a private sector data controller during the inspection and subsequent proceedings by the Data Protection Agency. Since then, he has advised and represented a large number of local and international companies and is well-known for his expertise regarding international data transfer, outsourcing transactions and data protection review programmes.
Before joining us, Javier was head of the IT and Communications at Linklaters, and he had previously been the head of Technology and Data Protection team at Spanish firm Cuatrecasas and a lawyer at the CDTI (Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology).
Javier lectures extensively on privacy, technology law, international dispute resolution and ADR in European and US forums.
Javier is fluent in Spanish, English, French and Italian.
