James' experience of working in house gives him a strong understanding of the client perspective.
James is a senior associate in our International Employment and Incentives Group, based in London.
He advises on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious domestic and cross-border employment issues in both the public and private sectors. His experience includes negotiating service agreements and executive severances; protecting business confidentiality and enforcing restrictive covenants; corporate restructures and redundancy programmes; advising on TUPE issues in relation to outsourcings and business transfers; corporate insolvency; data protection, health and safety; mediations; conduct of litigation in the High Court; and employment tribunals involving the full spectrum of employment disputes from unfair dismissals and breach of contract to discrimination and 'whistle blowing'.
James also has in house experience, having been seconded to Yahoo! as the sole UK employment counsel between October 2006 and April 2008. He undertook a number of large projects in this capacity, including the co-ordination of two pan-European restructuring and redundancy exercises and enforcement action against a high profile social networking corporation to prevent unfair competition, involving both the UK and US jurisdictions.
James qualified as a solicitor in 2002 and joined us in 2006, having spent the previous six years with another international law firm.
