Izabela Kowalczuk-Pakuła



Izabela has in-depth knowledge of data protection and intellectual property issues due to her extensive work in this area.  

Izabela is a Senior associate in our Privacy & Data Protection and Intellectual Property Practices based in Warsaw.

Since 2007, she has advised clients from various sectors, including financial services, IT, FMCG, alcohol, media, finance and pharmaceuticals, on issues related to privacy law and personal data, consumer protection law and intellectual property rights.

Izabela supports companies on strategic decisions regarding data protection, privacy and trade secrets; including creating business models in line with data protection law and privacy, conducting audits in this area and developing solutions to minimise risk. She represents clients before the Inspector General for the Protection of Personal Data (GIODO) and is an arbitrator at the Permanent Arbitration Court for Consumers at the Office of Electronic Communication and an expert of the Polish Chamber of Commerce.

She has advised on many projects related to international data transfer, cloud computing, outsourcing, implementation of binding corporate rules and data processing within HR services. She has particular expertise in consumer law issues affecting online providers, e-commerce and consumer rights, new technology law and the legal aspects of advertising and promotion, including gambling.

Izabela conducts criminal and civil proceedings relating to the protection of intellectual property rights, especially trademarks and industrial designs, representing clients from the food & beverage and electronic sectors in criminal cases concerning counterfeit goods.

Izabela is a frequent speaker at workshops and conferences on data protection and is the author of numerous publications in this area.

Izabela graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at Warsaw University and completed a course in American law at Warsaw University. She also studied at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium).

In 2015, Izabela was recognised by the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers competition in the category of Intellectual Property. She was also ranked among "Rising Stars Lawyers - tomorrow's leaders 2015", by Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, a top Polish business daily, and Wolters Kluwer Poland, and obtained the highest position among lawyers specialising in Intellectual Property and New Technology law.
