Ben’s specific focus is on data centres and, more broadly, the inter-relationship between real estate and technology.
Ben is a partner in our Real Estate Practice, based in London.
Ben is one of the most experienced data centre lawyers in the UK, having specialised in this sector since 2008. He has acted for a variety of organisations (including global telecommunications companies, banks and developers) on their data centre requirements.
For developers, Ben has advised on site acquisition, the development and pre-letting of the site and ultimately the sale to an investor. He has also acted for investment purchasers of data centres, which has included the financing aspects relating to the acquisition.
Ben has also acted for numerous end-users of data centres, having substantial experience across a range of requirements, from the acquisition of a few racks in a colocation data centre; to leases of entire halls and buildings.
Ben has worked closely with clients and advisers in the data centre industry for several years to develop contractual documentation for both operators and customers. His experience has given him a rounded, commercial view on how data centre transactions should be approached, making him well-placed to advise all organisations in the sector.
In addition to his work on the technological aspects of real estate, Ben has substantial experience in a wide range of commercial real estate transactions, particularly in the areas of investment, corporate and landlord and tenant matters. Ben also acts for a variety of companies on their own real estate requirements, having represented numerous international clients in relocating their UK corporate headquarters.
