Bird & Bird advises Crowdcube on its £6 million Series B round financing

06 August 2015

Bird & Bird has advised client Crowdcube Limited on its £6 million Series B round financing. The financing was led by Numis, a leading UK stockbroker and corporate advisor. Tim Draper and London-based venture firm Draper Esprit also joined the funding round alongside existing investor Balderton Capital, one of Europe’s largest venture firms.

Crowdcube is the leading investment crowdfunding platform in the UK. Since the launch of its platform in 2011, Crowdcube has amassed an investor community of nearly 200,000 and almost £100 million has been invested through the platform. This latest round of investment will enable Crowdcube to accelerate growth, continue the expansion of its team, ramp up new product development including the creation of a new solution for companies going public, and invest further in its marketing activities.

Paul Massey, General Counsel of Crowdcube, said: "The Twobirds Venture Capital Group provided excellent, timely and commercially-focussed advice for this strategically important investment. Angus and Shing were fun to work with and helped us to close this transaction in a tight timeframe."

This transaction is another example of Bird & Bird's market-leading venture capital group's track record of advising some of the world's most innovative and successful early-stage technology companies. The team was led from our London office by Angus Miln (Partner, Corporate) with assistance from Shing Lo (Associate, Corporate) and Sam Triggs (Trainee, Corporate).
