Bird & Bird wins multiple awards at MPF Awards for Management Excellence 2015

13 March 2015

We are pleased to announce that we took top awards for management excellence at the 13th Annual MPF Awards for Management Excellence held on 11 March in London. Bird & Bird took the main prize for the Most Innovative Use of Social Media and for the Best Use of Systems and Technology. We also came second in Best Provision of Know How and Best Financial Management categories.

The Awards are an integral part of the MPF International Management Excellence Summit in association with Harvard Business Review and the Financial Times. Categories cover leadership, operational excellence, clients, people and collaboration. The awards recognise the best practice across professional services firms and highlight processes and systems which support businesses in delivering excellent solutions to clients.

Bird & Bird came first in Most Innovative Use of Social Media category. The judges said: "This entry stood out as the clear winner. Not only did Bird & Bird demonstrate how to scale a project up over time, apply brand values and use content effectively (in particular video and web integration) but there was also a clear understanding of using social media for press and client relationship development. Most impressive, however, was the project team’s commitment to mapping the project against strategic goals and objectives."

Michelle Williams, responsible for social media strategy at Bird & Bird, said: "It's fantastic to be recognised for this award and to work with so many people who are willing to take advantage of the opportunities that social media offers. We put dozens of our partners and associates on the spot in front of cameras for our 'Supporting Innovation' campaign and I hope that they are pleased with the result. Our campaign was a true team effort across many groups in the firm."

Bird & Bird also took the first prize in Best Use of Systems and Technology category for its firm-wide matter planning and profitability initiative. The judges explained: "Bird & Bird's system allows the firm to respond to client demands for more flexible pricing and greater financial transparency whilst ensuring sustained profitability."

Karen Jacks, IT Director at Bird & Bird said: "We are delighted with this recognition. We realise how important it is to provide the infrastructure that not only increases efficiency but also has a positive impact on clients' experience. This award reassures us that our continued efforts to use technology to provide smooth, transparent and profitable solutions resonate with the market and help differentiate us from our competitors."

We were also a runner up in two other categories: Best Provision of Know-How and Best Financial Management. Our Contract Foundations Project was described by the judges as a "mature initiative in its eight year featuring intimate, tailored seminars delivered by project leader Andrew White" while  our Matter Planning and Profitability solution focused on transparency and flexible pricing arrangements was commended for recognising the importance of client satisfaction."
