Bird & Bird's Dutch office strengthens its employment practice with the arrival of Marcus Huisman.

Bird & Bird is delighted to announce that as of 1 September it has appointed Marcus Huisman as a partner in its office in The Hague.

Marcus' arrival strengthens Bird & Bird's growing Dutch employment practice. He has vast experience in advising and litigating on all aspects of domestic and international employment law.

Marcus was most recently a partner in Dutch law firm Houthoff Buruma.  He specialises in litigation and co-determination and is praised by his clients for his pragmatic approach. He advises and litigates on the full spectrum of employment-related matters, including company closures, restructurings, transfers of undertaking, strikes and collective bargaining. Marcus also deals with management issues, such as the dismissal and reward of board members and executives. He frequently advises on the strategic employment and co-determination aspect of collective redundancies, mergers and acquisitions.

Marcus has a degree in Private and Company Law from the University of Groningen and was called to the Bar in 1995. As a guest lecturer, he also contributes to the Master Employment Law of the Rotterdam Erasmus University.
